Our impactful 2024-25 partnership with Deutsche Bank

Over the past two years, Dementia UK has partnered with Deutsche Bank as its UK Charity of the Year. Together we have raised a phenomenal £2.4m which could fund more than 32 new dementia specialist Admiral Nurses, helping thousands of families across the UK.

This was only possible because of the passion, dedication and generosity of Deutsche Bank colleagues who embraced the partnership wholeheartedly and helped deliver lasting impact. This was a unique partnership in which our Corporate Partnerships Team was embedded within the bank, working closely with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team to motivate Deutsche Bank employees to support Dementia UK through fundraising, volunteering and raising awareness.

Our Admiral Nurses also provided expert advice and support to colleagues who are living with the realities of dementia, and education through nurse-led webinars to help build a strong understanding of the condition across the bank.

Our key achievements:

  • Over £2.4m raised to ensure no one faces dementia alone
  • 8,009 hours volunteered
  • 120 Admiral Nurse appointments offered to employees
  • Internal Dementia Support Group for Deutsche Bank employees in development

“This partnership has shown what is possible when purpose and people come together. Thanks to the extraordinary dedication of our Deutsche Bank teams, we have raised over £2.4 million for Dementia UK, supporting Admiral Nurses and helping ensure that no one faces dementia alone. I am incredibly proud of the compassion, energy and commitment our colleagues have shown over the past two years. The impact of this partnership will be felt by families across the UK for years to come.”

Our Corporate Partnerships Team’s highlights

One Day

Dementia UK staff at Deutsche Bank One Day event

Across two One Day campaigns, employees raised over £1m by donating a day’s salary to support families affected by dementia. As part of the campaigns, more than 20 colleagues generously shared how dementia had impacted their lives, helping to open conversations and build understanding across the organisation.

Challenge events

Groups of employees trekked and cycled across India, Italy, Morocco and Slovenia

Collectively, 235 colleagues travelled over 34,962km by walking, running, cycling and swimming in aid of Dementia UK. As part of this, groups of employees trekked and cycled across India, Italy, Morocco and Slovenia to take on incredible challenges, showing their commitment to supporting families affected by dementia.

Hackathon

2,300 Deutsche Bank colleagues from around the world gathered as part of a ‘Hackathon’

In 2024, more than 2,300 Deutsche Bank colleagues from around the world gathered as part of a ‘Hackathon’, working together to develop technology solutions to problems facing people living with dementia. They spent 24 hours addressing various aspects of dementia care, from early diagnosis and support to carer assistance and community awareness. We took forward some powerful learnings thanks to colleagues’ involvement, including around the application of new technologies such as AI-powered support.

Specialist dementia support and education

We offered more than 120 appointments for Deutsche Bank colleagues with an Admiral Nurse, providing them with specialist one-to-one support with coping with any aspect of dementia, during working hours.

Our nurses also delivered engaging sessions and presented at events to raise awareness of the impact of dementia on work and family life. This included more than 15 dementia ‘lunch and learns’ as well as specialist sessions aligned to different networks within Employee Resource Groups such as:

  • The Bereavement Network, focusing on experiences of grief in the dementia journey
  • Mental Health First Aiders, providing guidance on how to support the mental wellbeing of colleagues affected by dementia
  • The Black Leadership Forum, focusing on experiences of families from Black, African and Caribbean communities. Deutsche Bank employee Tim shared his experience of caring for his grandma, who lived with dementia, and why our specialist support service is so important.

A big thank you

As our partnership with Deutsche Bank has drawn to a close, we would like to thank everyone who played a part in the amazing impact we have had together, working towards our vision of a world where no one faces dementia alone.

“On behalf of all the families we support, thank you for your extraordinary generosity. Because of you, we’ll be there for more families at every stage of their dementia journey, now and in the future.”
