The Academy is the learning and development hub for all Admiral Nurses and is supported by the Dementia UK Practice Development Team. The Academy hosts a variety of learning opportunities and resources for Admiral Nurses to develop and sustain their specialist knowledge and skills. This includes regular webinars, professional development courses, a leadership pathway and an annual Forum. The Academy also provides monthly clinical supervision in the form of Practice Action Learning sets.
The learning platform we use is Blackboard. Here you can find opportunities for; external courses and webinars, involvement in research, and independent learning. You’re also encouraged to network via Communities of Practice or Special Interest Groups and to share learning and connect via discussion boards.
The Academy aims to champion the learning and development of all health and social care professionals caring for people living with dementia and their families. We also provide resources for non Admiral Nurses who wish to develop further skills in dementia care. Our pre-Admiral Nurse elearning module is free to access, and our annual Summer School offers free online webinars and workshops which are then freely available on the Dementia UK YouTube channel.
