Dementia UK pays tribute to Roy Burnham

Remembering the Prime Minister’s father

We’re deeply sorry to hear that Roy Burnham, Andy Burnham’s father, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, has died. Our thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family at this difficult time.

Improving dementia care

Paul Edwards, Dementia UK’s Chief Nursing Officer, said:

“The Prime Minister spoke candidly about his family’s experience with dementia and the challenges they faced securing the care and support they needed. His openness has helped shine an important light on the profound impact that dementia can have on the whole family, as well as the urgent need to improve dementia care and support.”
