Time for a Cuppa
Put the kettle on and pull up a chair – every penny you raise will support families facing dementia
Pay in your donationsSharing a cup of tea and a slice of cake is a fantastic way to bring people together, so why not make Time for a Cuppa this May and support families facing dementia? You can host your event anywhere you like: at home, at work, in a care home or in the community. And by taking part and collecting donations, you’ll be helping more families receive the life-changing support of our specialist dementia nurses.
Time for a Cuppa week is 1st-8th May 2022 but you can host your event whenever you like.
I’m making Time for a Cuppa for Dementia UK in memory of my nan. It brings my friends and family together to drink lots of cups of tea, eating lots of amazing cake and raising money for a fabulous cause.

Time for a Cuppa week is 1st-8th May 2022, but you can hold your event on any day, or in any month, that suits you. You’ll find lots of resources, including invites, to download here. - Bake (and/or buy!) cakes for your event
Think about how many people you’ll be inviting and plan what you’ll bake and buy. A top tip from our Cuppa hosts is to freeze your bakes ahead of the event – it’ll take the pressure off making lots nearer the time. - Have fun with others
Enjoy sharing cake and a cuppa with friends, family or colleagues, knowing you’re helping us provide life-changing support for families affected by dementia. We’ve got lots of fundraising tips in the pack and online. - Send in your donations
Once you’ve collected your supporters’ generous donations, send them in and feel proud of what you’ve achieved and the difference you’ll make.
We’re counting on your cuppa
Dementia is a huge and growing health crisis. By 2025, over one million people in the UK will be living with the condition, and almost all of us will know someone affected, whether it’s a family member or a friend.
Our dementia specialist Admiral Nurses are a lifeline to families facing dementia – and we believe every family should have their support. But right now, we can’t reach everyone who needs us.
When you make Time for a Cuppa, you’ll be raising vital funds to help us support and develop more Admiral Nurses so no one has to face dementia alone.
Why we’re counting on your cuppa
Whatever your reason for hosting your event, when you make Time for a Cuppa, you’ll be raising awareness and vital funds for families facing dementia.
- £15 could cover the telephone costs of five families calling our free national Dementia Helpline.
- £30 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse in an acute hospital for an hour
- £60 could pay for an Admiral Nurse to offer two hours of virtual clinics to families – wherever they live
- £255 could fund in-depth specialist support for eight families contacting our Helpline
- £1,125 could fund a new Admiral Nurse supporting people from under-served communities for a week
