November Knitting Challenge

Knit every day. Raise vital funds. Make a difference.

  • Date: 1st November 2026 - 30th November 2026
  • Registration fee: free to sign up, with no minimum fundraising target

What is the challenge?

Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just picking up your first pair of needles, this is your chance to get cosy and creative while supporting families affected by dementia. Knit every day in November and help raise funds to increase the number of specialist dementia nurses.

“My mum had Alzheimer’s disease, and I wouldn’t have managed to cope for four years if it hadn’t been for my dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, Amanda. The November Knitting Challenge was great. You could do as little or as much as you liked. The aim was just to pick up the needles each day.”

– Christine

Frequently asked questions

We’re challenging you to knit every day throughout November. What you create and how long you knit for each day is up to you!

Once you register, you’ll receive a FREE tote bag, sponsorship form and knitting tracker. You’ll also have the chance to connect with hundreds of other crafters in our Facebook Group.

From beginner to pro, everyone is welcome, so challenge yourself to set aside some time each day to knit (or crochet or sew) some amazing creations. Whether you ask for a donation in exchange for your knits or get family and friends to sponsor you for taking on 30 days of knitting, your fundraising will help our specialist dementia nurses offer a lifeline to more families when they need it most.

No – we just ask you to raise as much as you can for families affected by dementia. If you raise £100, you’ll receive a free knitting pattern.

You certainly can. A fundraising page will automatically be set up for you when your register, but you don’t have to use it. We’ll send you a sponsorship form with your tote bag which you can use instead or alongside your page. You can download and print more copies.

Please ask your sponsors to fill out all the columns so we can claim up to 25% Gift Aid.

Of course! Our Facebook Group is active in November, when the majority of people are likely to take part, but you can do this challenge whenever it is best for you. The more participants we have, the more families can receive the life-changing support of our specialist dementia nurses.

You will receive our handy tracker with your tote bag, which is a great way to tick off the days. Be sure to keep your sponsors posted on how you’re getting on with the challenge.

To register for your tote bag, please complete the registration form. It will take up to two weeks for your bag to arrive. If you’ve not received it after two weeks, please let us know at products@dementiauk.org.
