This February, challenge yourself to go a month without…

Twenty-eight days… Go without… Support families facing dementia.

What you choose to go without or give up is entirely up to you. Alcohol, sugar, TV, caffeine, social media… The choice is yours – just make sure it’s a challenge for you!

Ready to get started?

  1. Sign up to take on A month without…
  2. Decide what you will be going without this February.
  3. Personalise your fundraising page and share it with friends and family.
  4. Download your virtual tracker below.

Thanks for downloading! We’re only asking for your email so we can measure downloads and ask for your feedback. We won’t sign you up for any marketing communications, but if you'd like to stay in touch, sign up for our newsletter by clicking "Subscribe to our newsletter" at the bottom of this page.

When you sign up, an online fundraising page will automatically be created for you, and you will receive emails and texts from us to keep you motivated throughout the challenge.

Every penny you raise will help grow the number of Admiral Nurses so they can offer a lifeline to more families affected by dementia.

We know you can do it!

I’ve just signed up – now what?

The next step is to personalise your fundraising page and share it with family and friends via social media, text, email and WhatsApp. Once you’ve done that, be sure to download your virtual tracker here so you’re ready to go when the challenge starts on 1st February.

How do I fundraise?

Your fundraising page will have been created automatically after you signed up. Look out for an email in your inbox, which will contain the link to your fundraising page.

Is there a registration fee?

Taking part in the A month without… challenge for Dementia UK is free!

Is there a fundraising target?

There is no fundraising target for this challenge – we just ask you to raise as much as you can for families affected by dementia.

And when you hit £96 you’ll be able to claim your free Dementia UK t-shirt!

Why £96? That amount could fund a dementia nurse to provide in-depth specialist support for three families in crisis on our free Helpline.

How can I send in sponsorship money I’ve collected offline?

The easiest way to send cash donations to Dementia UK is by donating to your online fundraising page. Alternatively, you can:

  • donate online
  • send in a cheque made payable to Dementia UK. Enclose a note including your full name, the email address that you used to sign up, and an explanation that you raised the money for the A month without… challenge. Post it to us at:

Dementia UK
7th Floor
One Aldgate
London
EC3N 1RE

Can I raise money without setting up an online fundraising page?

Your fundraising page will be automatically set up for you. However, you can choose to raise funds offline too. Please ask your sponsors to fill out all the columns so we can claim up to 25% Gift Aid.

Where do donations to my fundraising page go?

All donations made to your fundraiser will be sent directly to Dementia UK. These vital donations will help support families facing dementia.

How do I claim my Dementia UK t-shirt?

When you raise £96 you will be able to claim your free Dementia UK t-shirt. Look out for our email which will have a t-shirt request form in. It will take up to three weeks from us receiving your form for your t-shirt to arrive, so please be patient.

Can I get more than one t-shirt for the challenge?

We send out one t-shirt per participant. If you would like to buy some additional Dementia UK branded clothing, please visit our shop.

How do I track my A month without… challenge?

You can download your virtual tracker above. Once downloaded or printed, be sure to tick off each day you go without.

Can I start early or late?

Of course! Our challenge will be live in February, when the majority of people are likely to take part, but you can do it whenever is best for you. The more participants we have, the more families can receive the life-changing support of our specialist dementia nurses – so feel free to choose your own dates.

Can I give up more than one thing?

Absolutely. This is your challenge, and you can tailor it to suit you. Just be clear with your supporters about what you’re doing and keep them updated regularly about how you are getting on.

What if I don’t complete the challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself and enjoy raising awareness and funds so our dementia specialist Admiral Nurses can support more families.

Do as much as you can – just update your sponsors regularly, be clear about how far you’ve come in your challenge, and make sure they’re still happy to donate to Dementia UK.
