10,000 Steps a Day in January
We are challenging you to take 10,000 steps every day in January. Where and how you chose to walk each day is up to you!
Two thousand adventurers of all experience levels and ages will take on a classic capital to coast route, testing their grit over the Bank Holiday weekend. You can choose to walk, jog or run your choice of distance, with the full 100km, three-quarter 75km,half and quarter options – there’s a challenge for everyone!
The event starts in Richmond’s Old Deer Park – then crosses the North Downs and wonderful Surrey and Sussex countryside to the halfway point at Turners Hill. Full challengers will then head up and over the South Downs before the welcome sight of the Brighton coastline comes in to view.
You’ll receive great hospitality all the way, including free food and drink at regular rest stops along a fully signed route, plus support from medics, marshals and massage therapists. As you cross the finish line, you’ll get a warm welcome from the cheer squad, a glass of fizz, a t-shirt and a special medal to celebrate your achievement.
You may have to dig deep at times – but you’ll meet new friends along the way, and the journey will be unforgettable!

Emma and Anna tell us why they took on a trek for Dementia UKThe walk was both emotionally and physically challenging. But I can’t explain how lovely the support was around. Locals left out chairs with rest stops, with glasses of water and oranges; not to mention the moral support from the other people taking part.
