Our transformational partnership with Nationwide

Our partnership with Nationwide Building Society is enabling us to provide even more families affected by dementia with life-changing specialist support. Dementia UK is partnering with Nationwide as part of its Fairer Futures social impact strategy, helping to tackle some of the biggest issues in society today and supporting those who have been dealt an unfair hand.

Our partnership with Nationwide will help us support an additional 100,000 people living with dementia, and their carers. So far, we have already supported 40,354 people as we work towards this goal.

So far in our partnership:

  • 88 %

    of people

that received support said it made a difference to their to take better care of the person with dementia.

  • 5 ,900

    people accessed help

Over 5,900 people accessed help through clinics held in Nationwide branches.

  • 40 ,354

    people living with dementia

and their carers were supported by specialist Dementia UK Admiral Nurses.

(all figures up to end of September 2025)

"A lot of clinical settings feel quite scary and unsettling for a person with dementia. Our memory clinic is an old psychiatric hospital where all the doors are locked, which is quite an intimidating environment. Going to a Nationwide Building Society (branch) that I'm familiar with made me feel so much more at ease. It meant I was able relax and open up a lot more."

Jane, supported by Dementia UK and Nationwide's Admiral Nurse clinics

Nationwide Fairer Futures has funded an additional 30 dementia specialist Admiral Nurses, who provide families with expert, compassionate support when they need it most.

This includes:

  • 18 Admiral Nurses who are providing face-to-face dementia clinics in over 200 Nationwide branches across the UK
  • 10 Admiral Nurses who support families on our national Helpline and in virtual clinic appointments
  • Two Dementia at Work Admiral Nurses who have been embedded into Nationwide for the duration of the partnership. These nurses provide virtual clinics to Nationwide colleagues affected by dementia and deliver training that benefits customers and colleagues

“I’ve worked for Nationwide for almost 22 years, and meeting with the Admiral Nurse to talk was probably the most profoundly impactful conversation I’ve had at work.”
