What we do

At Dementia UK our dedicated team focuses on research into dementia care. We work with people living with dementia, health and social care professionals, and world-leading academics to carry out research on the best ways to support people affected by dementia.

Meet our team

Why research into dementia care is important

The learnings from our research projects are vital to:

  • support our Admiral Nurses to continuously improve their skills so they can provide the best care for people affected by dementia
  • show the huge impact Admiral Nurses have for people affected by dementia, so we can encourage health and social care decision-makers to employ them
  • support families and people affected by dementia who want to learn more about dementia care

Our three focus areas of research

We developed three key research priorities collaboratively with people affected by dementia, health and social care professionals and academics. Collectively, we identified three research priorities that form our plan for the next three years.

  1. People with dementia who are living alone and families providing support from a distance
  2. People with young onset and rare dementia
  3. People living with multiple health conditions alongside dementia
