Making a major gift
Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia.
All too often, families struggle to know where to turn and are left feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and alone. We want every family affected by dementia to have the support of a specialist nurse, known as an Admiral Nurse – but right now, we cannot reach everyone who needs us.
By making a gift to Dementia UK, you will help us offer life-changing support to even more people affected by dementia.
How your support will make a difference
There is no cure for dementia, but a major gift will help us ensure that more of the 944,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and their families and friends, have access to the best support possible.
Our specialist dementia nurses are a lifeline to those struggling to cope. Major gifts enable us to develop our nursing services so we can reach as many people as possible – on our Helpline, in face-to-face and virtual clinics, and in local communities, hospitals and care homes.
Dementia UK is the only specialist dementia nursing charity in the UK, offering free, expert support through our Admiral Nurses.
In Dementia UK I saw an enterprise with purpose and meaning and also one that had a clear vision, a well-articulated strategy and, critically, the people to deliver on that strategy. The culture of the organisation and the talent within it is outstanding, and it gave me real confidence that anything I might do to help, or donations that I might source, would be put to work in a professional, compassionate and effective way.

How we will work together
We do not receive any Government funding, so we rely on the generosity of our supporters. At Dementia UK, we consider donations of £5,000 or more to be a major gift. If you are able to make a donation of this size, you will play a significant part in how we support families, now and in the future.
All of our major supporters will receive:
- a bespoke biannual newsletter
- a dedicated member of the Philanthropy Team as your point of contact
- invitations to exclusive events
- updates on the impact your gift is having
Without the practical and emotional support of our specialist dementia nurse, Gladys’s final months, days and hours would have been heartbreakingly different. She certainly wouldn’t have passed away surrounded by her family – the people she loved most in the world.
