Join #TeamDementiaUK in the Peak District this year to trek for our Admiral Nurses and families living with dementia. This challenge promises stunning views on both the 25km and 50km route.
Date: Saturday 31st August 2019
25km Challenge & 50km Challenge
Both routes will start in the heart of the Peak District, the beautiful Hope Valley and will trail ancient and picturesque landscapes. You can also sign up as part of a team and raise even more vital funds for families across the UK.
The 50km Challenge
Leaving the Trekfest village, the 50km team will head straight through Castleton and climb up and over Hollins Cross to reach the first check point in Edale. After a quick pit stop you will then head on to join the Pennine Way leading up to the summit of Kinder Scout. (Make sure to get a photo at the top in your Dementia UK t-shirt!) You’ll then make your decent into Hayfield and follow the Pennine Bridleway, into the fabulous Peak Forest, on through the villages and onto the finish line at the Trekfest Village!
The 25km Challenge
Leaving the Trekfest Village, the 25km team will head through villages and head north to the Ladybower reservoir. After a quick pit stop you’ll then follow the edge of the reservoir alongside the beautiful woodland before reaching Haglee Ford. In the final stretch you’ll be trekking up and over Hollins Cross before heading through Castleton to the finish line in the Trelfest Village!
No matter which distance you choose, you will receive full support from the TrekFest team – hospitality and plenty of rest stops throughout your trek, as well as a celebratory finishers’ meal and massage. So all you need to do is focus on reaching that finish line and raising funds to help families facing dementia.
