Dementia UK congratulates the Rt Hon Liz Truss MP on becoming the new leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party and Prime Minister.
There are a number of pressing issues for the new Prime Minister to address as a matter of urgency, such as the cost of living crisis, and a health and care system that is facing critical pressures including workforce shortages and huge waiting times for care.
These challenges are disproportionately affecting people living with dementia and their families – and without access to the right dementia care and support to meet their needs, too many families are falling between the gaps and into crisis.
We want to see dementia care prioritised at both national and local levels. We have written to the new Prime Minister to ask her to urgently lead the change for a better system and outcomes for everyone affected by dementia.
We’re campaigning for better care so that everyone affected by dementia gets the specialist support they deserve. All too often people living with dementia and their families are left to cope alone. Together we can create a better system
