It’s a very significant and exciting time for the communications team at Dementia UK. We’re investing in our brand to increase awareness and knowledge of Dementia UK and Admiral Nurses, and strengthening our content, digital and media output to achieve this aim
Reporting into the Director of Fundraising & Communications, this part-time (three days a week) maternity cover role will play a key part in developing the Communications Team.
An experienced communications professional, you will have experience across all areas of communications, including in developing and implementing strategies.
You will be working as part of a job share, so excellent communication skills are also a must, as is management experience, as you will be line managing established team members.

Dementia UK is looking to appoint a professional and practice development facilitator to support the development of Admiral Nursing. As a member of the Admiral Nursing Directorate, you will work with the Professional & Practice Development Lead to provide leadership and facilitation for a defined group of Admiral Nurses, one post covering the South West region and the other covering the West Midlands/ South Wales region.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who provide vital support to families affected by dementia. They work across a variety health and social care settings to provide expert clinical and emotional support, practical advice, and therapeutic interventions to help families. There are currently 215 Admiral Nurses throughout England and the charity aims to increase this to 300 by end of 2020.
Admiral Nurses are supported by Dementia UK, to access professional and practice development on a regular basis. You will be expected to work with a defined group of Admiral Nurses to help develop practice in a systematic way and demonstrate positive outcomes for families affected by dementia.
This position will be home-based, with travel focused mostly in the South West or West Midlands / South Wales and with regular trips to Dementia UK headquarters in London.
We are looking for an energetic, skilled individual who has an excellent understanding of dementia care, facilitation skills and a proven track record in leading & facilitating projects and/or practice development.
