Dementia UK is the only UK charity dedicated to caring for people with dementia and their families through specialist dementia nurses. Our nurses give families the one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions they need to face dementia with more confidence and less fear.

The money you raise at work could help to provide more specialist dementia nurses for the families that need them, in their communities, in hospitals, in hospices, and on the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline.

We can also offer you and your colleagues places in some of the UK’s biggest challenge events, like Ride London or the SimplyHealth Great North Run.

Payroll giving

As well as taking part in fundraising activities, you can also donate directly through your salary – a donation will be deducted before tax which means that it costs you less to help us. You decide how much you would like to give each pay day. There is no upper or lower limit. HMRC makes up the remainder of the donation at no cost to you. Some employers also offer ‘matched giving’ schemes where they match or double a donation at no extra cost to you.

To set up a regular donation via your payroll, please complete our Payroll Giving Form and give it to your payroll department. If your circumstances change, you can reduce or increase your donation and its frequency.

If your employer does not currently offer a scheme, let us know and we can help them to set one up.


Colleagues in the companies that we work with often volunteer their time to help us with awareness raising and fundraising activities like street collections, giving talks at local events, joining our cheer squads at runs and marathons or sharing their skills and expertise with Dementia UK staff.

Chaucer Syndicates

Dementia UK was nominated by Chaucer Syndicate employee Alison Francis and voted for by staff, to receive a grant of £50,000 and to benefit from money raised through fundraising activities run by the Chaucer CSR Committee in 2018.

Alison says

I put forward Dementia UK as a charity close to my heart and have been overwhelmed by the outstanding work and service they offer individuals and their families who are affected by dementia. Our employees have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with Dementia UK and educate themselves about the different types of dementia. It has been a rewarding partnership for me not only from a personal level but from a corporate perspective being able to give back and do something that is not normally part of my day job, making 2018 a very fulfilling year.

We have also worked closely with Chaucer Syndicates throughout the year to engage staff through volunteering opportunities, including a market research project and business skills training on Excel.
