Georgia Kousoulou, honours her Grandma in our Christmas appeal

The Only Way is Essex star Georgia Kousoulou, is fronting our Remember a Star campaign this year. She’s celebrating her YiaYia (Greek Grandma), whilst also raising awareness and funds for dementia specialist Admiral Nurses and families affected by dementia.

Why Georgia is adding her star to our tree

Georgia said: “It’s a huge honour to be a part of Dementia UK’s Christmas campaign this year. I really link Christmas with spending time with family. Now that my YiaYia is living in a care home with dementia, I know it will be a different Christmas.

“Dementia is an isolating condition, but the charity’s Admiral Nurses play such a huge role in being there for families who feel they have nowhere else to turn. This is why I’m celebrating my YiaYia and giving families like mine the gift of care this Christmas.”

Georgia has already shared snaps of her Christmas tree decorations on Instagram, which features her star for Dementia UK’s campaign. She is joining many families up and down the country in remembering, celebrating, or thanking someone who has been affected by dementia, whilst also donating to Dementia UK.

Help families living with dementia this Christmas

Dr Hilda Hayo, CEO and Chief Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said:

Christmas can bring additional challenges for families with dementia. Our national Helpline traditionally receives a high volume of calls at this time of the year. Some of the top reasons for calling include; families navigating changes in routine; reduced support services; and feelings of sadness as well as loneliness after a diagnosis or a death of a loved one. Our Remember a Star campaign plays a big role in providing life-changing care and support to even more families who need it. We’d like to thank Georgia and Brody for playing such a special part in it this year.
