Hours of work: 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday)
Contract: Permanent full time
Salary: £31,930 pa (maximum subject to experience)

Annual leave: 33 days (excluding 8 bank holidays)

Background

Today, dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK. By 2025, more than one million people in the UK will be living with this often-devastating condition. Millions of us will know someone living with dementia. Many will be directly affected it – as the incredibly difficult role of carer often falls to friends and family members.

Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service. Our nurses provide life-changing support and advice for families affected by all forms of dementia. They help people living with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so that they will have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.

The Philanthropy programme at Dementia UK has grown significantly in the past two years, and our Philanthropy Executive is crucial to this success, working directly with some of our most generous supporters to ensure they feel connected to our charity and that they understand how their support makes a difference to the lives of families facing dementia.

Purpose of job

The Philanthropy Executive will be responsible for cultivating and stewarding their own pool of philanthropists and major donors; supporting the Philanthropy Manager on the wider philanthropy programme including through the organization of a number of ‘special events’ throughout the year; ensuring the team have robust and compliant processes in place; and leading on all administrative aspects of the philanthropy programme.
