Dementia UK provides specialist support for families through our Admiral Nurse service. They help people living with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they will have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.

About the role:

We are looking for an Academy Lead Admiral Nurse to join our team and help Dementia UK achieve the strategic aims outlined in the 2020-2025 Strategy. Reporting to the Head of Admiral Nurse Academy, you will play a key role in influencing the development of Admiral Nursing practice and take the lead in acute care, with the goal of supporting the development of Admiral Nurse services and enabling positive outcomes for people living with dementia and their family carers.

You will work alongside other Academy Lead Admiral Nurses to support the facilitation and engagement of Admiral Nursing practice, as well as provide support to Admiral Nurses in service development and professional development. The aim of the Academy is to promote independent learning and service delivery by working in collaborate across different teams within the charity.

As a registered nurse educated to, or working towards, a Master’s degree in a health and social care subject or equivalent qualification or experience, you should have a strong understanding of health and social care systems, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the external environment.

You must have extensive experience in dementia care within acute care settings and the ability to present and promote Admiral Nursing to a wide range of audiences. As an expert practitioner, you should possess knowledge of dementia and therapeutic working with families and organisations, with the ability to make complex advanced decisions in practice.
