Brief description of the role

As part of an exciting new partnership between Dementia UK and Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust we are offering an experienced nurse, with a passion for dementia, the opportunity to support families living with dementia. You will be predominantly based at Charing Cross within the memory service, as well as working with the trust’s dementia team and supporting patients with young onset dementia in other areas.

Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support families and carers of people with dementia. Working collaboratively with other professionals, seeking to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers, using a range of interventions to help people live positively with the condition and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships.

In this specialist role you will act as an expert resource, providing advice on nursing care in relation to clinical interventions, policies, service development and delivery for individuals with young onset dementia and their family carers.

You will become part of a network of Admiral Nurses and will be supported by Dementia UK through protected practice development and clinical supervision as well as continuing professional development, including the opportunity to undertake a specialist Admiral Nursing Master’s level module.

You will need to be a registered nurse with significant experience of working with people and families living with dementia and a commitment to practicing in a person and relationship-centered way.

The post holder will be an exceptional individual who can influence, lead and motivate staff at all levels.
