Dementia Champions
Dementia UK aims to improve standards of dementia care and Dementia UK Training are pleased to host and support the Dementia Champions programme.
Dementia Champions is a development programme for leaders of person-centred dementia care designed and delivered by DementiaTrainers (Buz Loveday & associates).
This 5-day training course is designed to enable care services to meet the National Dementia Strategy objectives for staff development and leadership in dementia.
Aimed at staff of any grade who have been nominated by their managers to be Dementia Champions, this course facilitates an enhanced understanding of person-centred practice and the development of leadership skills to guide a staff team towards excellence in dementia care.
Dates for 2012: 18th April, 26th April, 3rd May, 6th June and 13th June
Cost: £450

New interactive e-learning course from Dementia UK
Dementia UK Training in partnership with Fast Healthcare have produced an interactive e-learning course entitled, ‘Caring Well for People with Dementia'.
The course is designed to prepare you to take further training in basic dementia care, specifically for Introduction to Dementia.
Course Content:
- Module 1 What is dementia?
- Module 2 How does dementia affect behaviour?
- Module 3 Supporting people with mild dementia
- Module 4 Caring well for people with moderate to severe dementia
- Module 5 Caring for yourself and other carers
This course is scenario-based including experiences of those affected by dementia and carers. There is a pre-and post-course assessment and course exercises, leading to a certificate

An exciting new training partnership with Jackie Pool Associates
Dementia UK is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with Jackie Pool Associates.
Dementia UK is to become a licensed provider of the 'Bee Inspired Dementia Care Leadership Programme', devised and developed by Jackie Pool.
The programme aims to develop leadership in care homes by creating a ‘buzz' in the care setting - hence ‘bee inspired'!
The Programme currently consists of the following components:
- Three-day 'Bee Inspired' Leadership Course
- 'Bee Inspired' Dementia Care Toolbox
- Mentorship of the Bee Inspired Dementia Care Lead Practitioner
Some of you may be aware that this programme was up until recently called the 'Buzz Inspired Dementia Care Programme'. However following discussion of the leadership programme at the recent Dementia Education and Training Network meeting, Jackie decided to re-name the programme to avoid any confusion with the work of Buz Loveday.
