Practice based research

We are committed to Practice Based Research - applied research - that matters and makes a difference, and which supports the development of care and treatment of older people with mental illness and their carers.

In making a difference, Dementia UK West Midlands has contributed to research in partnership with universities, and with other organisations such as statutory or voluntary health, housing and social care agencies.

To respond to the needs of researchers in the West Midlands, Dementia UK West Midlands:

  • Can offer guidance and advice on research projects and proposals
  • Assist with or undertakes literature and practice reviews
  • Act as supervisors or hosts to research projects relating to dementia care or other aspects of mental health in later life

Dissemination Conferences and Publications

Dementia UK West Midlands was set up with a specific brief to disseminate good practice. In agreement with partners and collaborators, we disseminate findings through local, regional or even national events as well as through other media such as journals.

Sharing and Developing the Knowledge Base

If you are currently undertaking a research project in the West Midlands or know of any, Dementia UK West Midlands is keen to hear from you. We are concerned to know about, and promote, current and recent research, which can be disseminated throughout the region to facilitate service improvement, knowledge sharing and networking as well as collaborative working. Help us help you!
